How to Wake Up in the Morning

The common complain in every house hold is the inability to wake up when you are supposed to wake up. Mostly we are overpowered by the trivial choice between the warm, comfortable bed and the harsh, cold morning. The reason for this grogginess is not known by most. Read for more information on the sleep system.

There is one reason for this. Melatonin is a hormone synthesized by the pineal gland which is responsible for sleep and restoring physical energy. High melatonin levels in blood promote laziness. Melatonin secretion increases in darkness or low light environments and decreases when the body is exposed to sunlight. Melatonin is hence also known as the ‘Vampire Hormone’. In the early morning, the melatonin level in your blood is high. Hence, to get over this drowsiness you need to reduce it immediately. This can be done by immediately staring at the sun within 30 seconds of waking up and before the drowsiness registers.

Another reason is that your body temperature is low while you sleep. A primary mistake made by every one is keeping the alarm clock within arm’s reach. So all you ever do is semi-consciously hit the snooze button and go back into your peaceful slumber. So its essential that you keep the clock at enough distance from where you sleep in order to ensure that you can hear it loudly enough but still have to get off your bed to off it. This will increase your body temperature and help you feel refreshened.

Steps :

1. Keep the alarm clock at a considerable distance from your bed. Make sure that you need to get off your bed in order to switch off the alarm.

2. Stare at the sun immediately after waking up. If you wake up before sunrise, ensure that the room is brightly lit so that you can feel fresh.

3. Practice doing this.

Practice sessions :

* Switch off all the lights in your room and make it as dark as possible.

* Keep the alarm at 5 minutes from now (the time you are doing this).

* Lie on the bed and try to relax.

* Now, the moment the alarm rings, get off the bed, switch off the alarm.

* Go to the closest window(or door) and stare at the sunlight around you.

* Take in deep breaths. Remain so for a few minutes until you feel completely fresh.

* Do this continuously at least 4- 6 times before ending the session.

* Take some time out every day to practice this at least for 21 days. This will make it a habit.

This is the best tactic till date to wake up efficiently. Before falling asleep, repeat this statement in your mind ‘I will wake up at and feel refreshed, relaxed and ready to start a wonderful day.’ Repeat this at least 20 times. Now when you do wake up in the morning to the sound of your alarm, do exactly as you practiced during the sessions. If everything is well, you will automatically (nearly unconsciously) do all the
